The historyof Nicolau

Nicolau was born in Lisbon, and he hasn’t stopped since. Between coffee breaks, brunches, joyful get-togethers, and countless stories shared around the table, he quickly became a part of the city: first in Baixa, then in other neighborhoods, other cities, and always close to those who visit us.

It was in Lisbon’s Baixa district that Nicolau opened his first restaurant and began to win over the city. With German heritage, Latin charm, and a tropical-chic spirit, all brought back from his travels around the world, especially in Brazil—he introduced aromas, colors, and flavors that continue to inspire his cuisine.
After Lisbon, Nicolau continued on to Porto, settling on a green corner brimming with light and life, and later found a home in Cascais as well, by the sea breeze. At each location, he maintains the same spirit of an all-day café: generous brunches, colorful dishes, vegetarian and vegan options, and that desire to warmly welcome everyone who comes, whether from near or far.

Ameliathe girlfriend of Nicolau

Elegant, delicate, and irreverent, Amélia was born in Campo de Ourique as the baroness of her little Lisbon county. With her pink counter, secret garden, and refreshing atmosphere, she quickly won over everyone who lets themselves be swept away by her romantic charm.
Later, she brought her elegance to Foz do Porto, where she developed an even more sophisticated, almost Parisian flair, nestled between the city, the sea, and the Douro River. In Lisbon and in Foz, Amélia maintains the same essence: light dishes, carefully crafted flavors, global inspiration, and a space where you’ll want to linger.

Olíviathe new family member

Olivia arrived in Avenidas Novas, in the heart of Lisbon, as the newest member of the Nicolau family. Free-spirited, authentic, and full of life, she’s an animal lover, a bohemian, socially conscious, and cosmopolitan. She enjoys yoga and green juices just as much as she enjoys pizza, red wine, and long conversations with friends.

With her, the group has embarked on a more urban and exotic path, where familiar recipes take on new flavors, textures, and influences from different corners of the world. The energy has changed, but the philosophy remains the same: quality, flavor, and a desire to make guests feel welcome.
